California Glorious Sunsets.

Since I started to paint on my Iphone 3 months ago, I really enjoy painting the sunsets here in California. They are absolutely gorgeous, but don't last long. It's a matter of 5 to 10 minutes and then it's gone. So again, the Iphone and the app "brushes" are the perfect tool to capture the light very quickly on site. I could paint them with any media back at home from a photo, but the feeling is not the same, there is something very rewarding, satisfying to be able to paint a sunset live as it goes down, even if the end result is digital.
I have quite a collection of sunsets now, and I will post some of them now and then, but I'm keeping all my Iphone paintings/color keys for a book someday.

(For those of you who know the area, I painted this one yesterday evening from the top of Chaney Trail in Altadena).

Nice! It looks a lot like a watercolor.

Love the hint of yellow reflecting off the bottom of the blue sky cloud. Very nice Stephane!

Lovely! You've captured the light. I love that trail, too.

It's deceptively simple looking, but could only be made by great talent.

i think it's unreal that your able to do something of that standard on an iphone. but it just goes to show, it's whats in side your head that counts and not whats inside your hands.

this is very, very beautiful, i can't wait to see the rest

- Thanks Vanda. It's more like a gouache feel I think, thicker, meatier. I like your photos!

- Monsieur Jones! It's been a while. How are things in France, I heard "un monstre..." is on stand by? are you still in Nice?
Glad you feel very peaceful/relaxed looking at this sunset, it's exactly how I feel each time I look at one here, my dog next to me, good times.
Je t'embrasse mon lapin!

- Thanks Hutch!

- Hey Petrea, thank you! we went to this little waterfall, very pretty short hike.

- Hey thanks a lot Steven. We have to meet up someday.

- Hey Bufi, yes I did it on the Iphone, with one finger with an App. called "brushes"
Gracie mille!

- Uselaine, thank you very much for your compliment, I really appreciate, this makes me want to do a lot more sunsets around.

- Thank you very much Messytimbo, you are very kind. I appreciate your comment.

The ipod is going to have a great future if folks like you continue to use it, Stef. As Vanda said, it looks like a watercolor, and I am touched by the light just as Petrea is.

P.S...The i-pod and iphone--are they the same or similar devices? You can tell that I am computer illiterate.

I love the urgent energy of these pieces, Stephane.
Very inspiring. It's fun to see the immediacy of this tool, and your ease with color.

We no longer have to wait for paint to dry.

Beautiful image.

Gorgeous e-painting - wish I could observe you while you "paint". You sure are right about the short sunsets & sunrises I might add.
Went up the Chantry Flats trail in college & later came back to see the falls, so many yrs ago!

- Thanks a lot Annie, I really appreciate. The Ipod and Iphone are 2 different devices but both are able to run the application to draw on them.

- Merci Vince!

- Thanks Tash, I was actually thinking to ask my wife to film me while I do paint on my Iphone, but somebody already did it on youtube I think...I might do it someday.

Really beautiful.

Hope LA is treating you well. I could do with some West Coast sun, very cold and grey in London.

PS: Will send you an update on music projects I have completed over e-mail and a new record label I am a partner in.

- OK, donc bientot j'espere Wagonized.

- I'm glad you do altadenahiker, that means that my drawing is quite accurate. Sunsets from there, and the light in general is so pretty.

- Merci Thierry.

- Stacey who?!

- Can you add some clothes on that please Ry?

- I like you Ed.

- Thanks Neil.

- Hey Will! Yes please do! Thanks and hi to Rebecca!

I feel the same when all kinds of things go down on me...

How curious iPhone painting!

Davis Lynch would, I'm sure, blow a gasket--but I love it.

I am fascinated.

Bonjour stephane,
