This is a sketch I've done yesterday evening over a nice dinner, and I wanted to try a different way to color it. So I played with some worn out textures and transparencies, I used this technic on an illustration I've done for King Kong a while ago, but never on my sketches. I find it very pleasant and interesting to do.
I have more from last night that I'll color and post soon.
Also, I love to draw in cars, I find the "wobbly" line you get out of it very interesting. This morning, I decided to draw the guy in front of me while I was walking...quite a challenge (it started to rain too). I'll do it again. Here's the result.

Beautiful test, the colours are great!! Your King Kong is great too, is a very beautiful piece.
I will love your sketches with this new style!!!
Surfed in here via the "random blog" button- nicely done! I love finding creative places like this online.
Yeah this is great. I love how youve used the fold in the page to your advantage too. The block of shadow on the top one works well too.
great color, what kind of sketchbook is that?
- Thanks Virginia, I'll try more with this technic, see what works or not.
- Thanks for popping by Vile.
-Hey Andy! thank you. did you start animating my little taxi for the next Cannes Festival?
- Thanks anonymous, it's a teeny tiny Moleskine.
I like this your new style very much!:O)
I like that you use the car to get a wobbly line.
I have a natural sloppiness that doesn't need outside influence.
I envy you!
Beautiful coloring style, I love how you handle the negative space, it really helps to frame the character!! What kind of coloring material do you use for these drawings?
The blonde looks very attractive, great sketch
oki :)
Hi Stef,
a shame you couldn't make it yesterday. We had a blast! i'm sure Crookie will tell you all about it.
Hope to see you soon.
ULI
-Thanks Andrei.
- I love your line Elliot, beautiful! you should try to draw in cars, maybe you would have a straight line. The thing I like with drawing in cars or train, plane it's that you do mistakes and sometimes those mistakes give another dimension to a rather boring drawing.
- Thanks Alina, I've done the color on photoshop and use different brushes to get a worn out effect.
- Uli! I'll be there next time, Crookie told me how great it was!
- Thanks Lorraine.
I can't draw in the car, it makes me very sick!
-Thanks Roberto.
- And while you walk, this is another way.
I really like the last one.nice line and colour. I think coloring sketches is one of the most relaxing and fun things to do. Im enjoying like this last series of coloured sketches.
Beautiful ink work, very satisfying- been hanging around here every now and then getting inspired. All the best!
Haven't commented in a while, but I must say I love how you keep challenging yourself. At least when you sketch in a car, you're sitting, but sketching and walking? Very impressive, as are your sketches.
I admire your dedication, Stef.
Brilliant stuff! My gawd--what eye candy!
Oh, well worth the experiment. An inpiration. These are beauties. Love the loose line, the colour and technique.
