Pooh...

This is part of a serie of about 50 watercolours I've done at work. I'm taking advantage of the blog to show you the roughs before the final colour. I'll post more soon.

Wonderful Stef, good to see your 'dayjob' work. Were you asked/forced to put Piglet Eeyore in their? The composition works so well in the first but you also managed to make it work with the multiple characters too. Top notch paint work too.

Please Sir, can we have some more?!

Thanks Claude.
Thanks Matt! Actually yes, they asked me atfer seeing this rough to add Eeyore and Piglet, this kind of group hug is always a bit cheesy, so I tried to make it more interesting and keep a clear composition and silhouette.
I love the rough part, I usually do some little colour roughs with pencils to give me and idea of the light and shadow as I can't really do any mistakes when I'm doing the final watercolour.
I'd love to be able to do some digital watercolour, would be great to have everything on layers and push the transparencies further. I'm sure Neil knows how to do it!
I'll post more roughs and watercolours soon.

Stef,
This IS Poo and this IS Tigger. All there, drawing and character. What more can one want. And how difficult to do exactly that. The child in me is so happy.
Thank you!

Stef - is there any part of you that is torn between Shepards original images and the versions Disney created?
This isn't intended as critisism - I'm just curious.
Lovely work as always you talented Frenchman!

i don t know what, but something is strange with the tiger's tail and eyore...perhaps the direction of the eyes of eyore.he seams to look outside the composition...

Thanks Lara!
Hey Eliott! You're right, when I started to do those watercolours, I was thinking about how beautiful were the original "Winnie the Pooh" watercolours and wanted to give this feeling back again into the "Disney Pooh". I've done a lot more with backgrounds that I'll post soon.
Thanks Eliott!
Thanks Monica!
Bigfan, as I said, I tried to do for once a different kind of "hug" composition, true that Eeyore is not looking at the other 3 and that I could have made him look a bit more up toward Winnie, Tigger and Piglet, in that case, we can argue about it, Eeyore is looking slightly out to open up the compostion and add some story telling, he can just be looking at Roo, or Rabbit about to join them, or something just caught is attention, as for Tigger's tail, it could have been behind Eeyore's neck but needed the tail in front to emphasize the fact that is at the back, almost not part of the action, as Eeyore is always the guy left alone, that could explain why is not looking at them.
