Late night with Jonathan Ross

Yesterday evening, I went to the recording of the Jonathan Ross show. It was great fun! Guests were Woody Harrelson, Sharleen Spiteri, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), and the band, the Kaiser Chiefs.

This is excellent Stef. You caught Ross's manner perfectly & is that Radcliffe in the hot-seat?

Thanks Matt! yes, it's Radcliffe, it' doesn't look like him at all on the sketch...he was a bit far (that's my excuse).
All those cameras and wiring was very interesting, I would love to go back and do more.

These are fabulous, Stef! I love the colour blocking you've done too! Gives the page a lot of punch!

I am not familiar with Mr. Ross and his program. Is it like Leno or Letterman in the states?

Thanks Mike! That's a technique I'm using at work at the moment on a project, playing with transparencies.
Yes, it's the same kind of show with guests and there's a band playing live at the end. Jonathan Ross is such a funny guy, very good show in my opinion!

hey stef,
yeah vegas will be fun with sketchbooks. the old ladies smoking cigs at the slot machines are my favorite. time will be tight though. We'll also have the week in Pasadena. I'm sure we'll all have a ton to post.

TV studios are kind of fascinating and fun to draw. With all the overhead lights and cameras etc. I did it at David Letterman's show and he made fun of me for "whiling away the boring TV hours with my sketchbook."

as always, great work.

Stef,
The coloured gells work on several levels... as graphic pizzaz and also right for capturing the feeling of a TV studio. Nice work!

Thanks Paul, Shawn and Uwe!
Thanks John, true that is fascinating, I'd love to go back and draw more, all the "backstage" world is very interesting! You guys in L.A. have all the big Studio Warehouses, would be fun to go around and sketch people building the sets, actors...
Thanks Arna and John! I'm going to explore this route more, the transparencies are very interesting and fun to play with!
Thanks Alina!

Hey Stef, You really got some stuff happening in the way the sleeve hooks into the suit stretching the fabric over the back. It subtly pulls attention to the second figure.
Great job.
