Art Blocks For Ghana.

Here is my contribution to the "Art Blocks For Ghana" project.
All the Artists were given a square wood block to work with, and a theme, "Home".
There will be an exhibition of all the wood blocks at Gallery Nucleus in L.A, in March 2011.
All the details about the project can be found here.

Here are some of my preliminary sketches and composition thumbnails.

I originally intended to add a dog house on the roof of the boat, with a dog sleeping inside, and more props to make the deck of the boat more like a living room; a rug, a table with a vase and a flower... but as I decided to make the boat smaller in the lower right part of the composition, to show the vast ocean, it became too busy. Especially to draw that small on wood, i almost went blind.

And the final piece.

"Home Sweet Home" pencil and eraser on 10X10 wood block.
