From The Exhibition .

3 sketches that I made for my exhibition last May at the Riverside Studios in London.
I sketched this huge FED-EX truck in San Francisco, and below are 2 of my favorite music shops in Notting Hill, not that I go to those shops a lot, I just love how they look and where they are.

Hi Stef, thank you so much for the birthday wishes. I don't look at the blogs as much anymore, so coming back here is a most exciting adventure. Your work is so original and beautiful. It would be nice to see you before you go.

Stef - I really enjoy your style and the character of your work. Have I missed it or have you explained how you work?

By the way, what's with that FedEx sign...?

Hi, i enjoyed ur drawings so much, it's so inspiring! I like drawing too..so may I ask you when you are filling colours, how can you remember those shadows , lighting and colour variations? Did you do it by your imagination or take a photo of that real scene for reference? Thanks for sharing.

Stef - Amazing drawings as always, and you are a constant inspiration to wanting to draw more!
Out of curiosity, these seem quite large drawings compared to many of your other drawings but what size are these original drawings?

Thanks for showing us your drawings.

- Thanks you so much Uli, I'll definitely pop by Camden before I leave the old Europe for few beverages!

- Thanks Eduardo.

- Thank You JC, I really have a lot of fun coloring my sketches on photoshop.

- JL and Leolapian, thanks you very much. I scan my sketches and then do the colour on photoshop. For those ones in particular, after I've done my sketches I took a photo as a reference for later, I really wanted too have a "realistic" colour, light and shadow against my loose organic lines, as a contrast. So I used the photos to adjust my colour.
But I never use a photo to retouch my lines, even if there are some "mistakes" in my sketch, I keep them, they are part of the drawing, and I want to keep the spontaneity of the moment, mistakes make your line alive, and my goal is not to represent exactly what I have in front of me, it's a feeling, a moment.
JL, I just discovered after I sketch the FED-EX truck that there is an arrow in the design between the "E" and the "X"

- Thanks Jared.

- Thanks Ry! I'm really looking forward to come over and work with you guys, new world to discover, new persons to meet... and finally some sun ,I'll be able to sketch outside more than ever. It's all very exciting!

- Thanks Miked, I'm glad to know that I'm some kind of inspiration, that's a very nice reward to my hard work.
You're right, there are a bit bigger than usual, I really wanted to do some more panoramic scenes, they are 42cm wide by 13cm (16"X 5"), but still not very big, I might get my hand on one of those long unfoldable moleskine one day and do a very long sketch in a city some day.

- Thanks R.Dress.

I always wondered how you had such realistic lighting and color when you returned to your sketches. About this LA business - when you get here there will need to be some sketch crawls happening. It would be great to sketch with you.

Stef,

Thanks for sharing the ways how u did the drawings. Agree that "keep the spontaneity of the moment, mistakes make your line alive"
