I'm finally posting my sketches from Stockholm and the Swedish countryside. I've been very busy lately, and I've done more sketches than I though over there, so it took me a little while to edit and color some of them.
I've placed them in a chronological order as I wanted to keep the diary felling to it, even if some are not as relevant as other ones, I think it's interesting to see the evolution in my drawings through the week as I got familiar with the architecture of the city, or later, with the beautiful forest outside of Stockholm.
Hope you enjoy them!

Mr Kardos.
I still don't have proper access to a PC, so I convey this information to you in the form of a blog post.
" A second show at The Astoria in London, June 27th, has been added to the EELS 2006 tour itinerary."
I'm sure you'll work out where to get tickets.
These are amazing, all of them!
I have been following you for a while now.
I really love your simple style. Just ink and simple colours. The tube and the boat from slussen are my favorites.
superbes! on sent ton urgence a saisir le rytme dans la sequence du tronc, avec de l'humour en plus. Encore une fois, ouch!
Tragically, looking at these gorgeous drawings I couldn't get off my mind that ghastly song "Wonderful, Wonderful Cooopeeenhagen!!" Now it'll haunt me all day long!
(I know that Copenhagen is in Denmark!....)
What a fantastic travelogue! Brilliant sketches Stef (as always), ever consider doing postcards of the places you visit? Some of the cityscapes and landscapes would be terrific.
I especially like the way you gave the guy cutting down the tree a graphic novel feel.
Well worth the wait. Cheers!
-Thanks for the info Elliot.
-Thanks Per, good to hear that a Swedish person likes them.
-Merci beaucoup Cali! j'apprecie beaucoup ton compliment.
-Eh Beau! Oui je me suis beaucoup amuse avec l'histoire du tronc, l'idee de las BD ne m'est venue que lorsque j'ai mis ces croquis en place, je trouvais qu'il manquait l'energie du moment si je n'en faisais pas une histoire.
-Thanks Oscar. Will you have my sketches in mind all day as well as the song? could get very annoying.
- Thanks Smook! I never thought about postcards, I'd love to do a book though, difficult to find a publisher.
I really had fun with the "cutting down the tree" story, I'll do more of that in the future.
Let me tell you what a treat it was this morning jump into my Bloglines feeds and see all these great sketches. Rock on stefsketches!
The chainsaw guy has a lot of life & a real sense of narrative/character.
- That's a treat for me to receive such a comment Possum! Thanks!
-Thanks Monsieur Jones, very much appreciated coming from a talented story board guy like you.
The Swedish Chainsaw Massacre! Does this guy care about the enviroment? Why didn't you stop him? I guess it's because he was holding a chainsaw and you were holding a fountain pen.
But the pen is mightier than the Saw....d
I'm off to live in that fantastic little caravan you drew. Superb stuff.
ALL TOGETHER NOW!!!!
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old firl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhage, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me
I sailed down the Kattegat
Through the harbor and up to the quay
An there she stands waiting for me
With a welcome so warm and so gay
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhage, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me
I have Danny Kaye singing this on LP with significantly different lyrics.
I also should have mentioned Stef that these, as always, are lovely drawings.
Particularly the bloke with the chainsaw.
Extraordinary travel drawings!
Fantastic-o! made to look so simple, as ever. Im gonna send the link to my swedish buddies and see what they think.

Now that I have some time I might start doing a little more drawing and see how I do. Im quite inspired!
La madre que te pario!

I have to say that The guy cutting the tree series and the 2 lamp post are fantastic(specially the one with the dops trama) . Bravo man, now you should have hollidays.
...and I get finally your Grizzly man.( It was in my desk in the last studio and I didn't go there long time ago.But last week I went to pick all my stuff and your cd. thanks again. now I have to do the print.)
Bravo also to Oscar and the song!
Super cool, Stefan. I absolutely love these drawings.. and the color treatment. I'm particularly partial to the limited color ones (airplanes, chopping wood, person on the dock). well done.
- Tack sa mycket Matt! I saw Zuccho there too.
-We should all sing this next time we're around some limoncello Oscar.
-I never heard this song Elliot. bring it over with you!
-Thanks PMBC.
-Thank you very much Andy! very much appreciated. We shall see you soon!
-Muchas gracias Alberto! I was wondering actually if you had done the print already, let me know how it looks.
-Thank you Rich, I tried not to overcook them with color, I really enjoy coloring them on photoshop, and it's easy sometimes to go too far and just kill the raw power of a sketch.

What a wonderful batch of sketches from your travels. My favorites are the woman sipping coffee with the dark rimmed glasses and the fellow cutting wood-love the color!

What a freshness. The blacks are my favourites.
Cool use of halftones too. Thank you for sharing =)
-L
Great sketches! I particularly like the plane drawings. One question, are the benday dots something added in Photoshop? I like them, but don't know how this is done.
-Thank you very much Virginia! I'll try to do more on my next trip, I'd really love to have the opportunity to publish a book one day.
-Merci Armee.
-Thanks Michael!
-Hey Robim! hope everything is well for you in Canada, you very talented man!
-Thanks Maggie, actually I sketched this woman because I thought she was typically Swedish, only to find out later that she was English.
-Merci Alina.
-Thanks Luca!
-Yes, I've done the dots pattern on photoshop, very easy with the halftone pattern filter.
WOW! I just love every one of these sketches. I attempted sketching the airplane wing + engine during a flight out to Boston but yours turned out fantastic!
you are outta-control-good!

so beautiful Stephane! I like the one of the girl on the dock with the red coat.

PandaRobbè
Genial...par contre j ai des bugs sur ton blog maintenant...poids des images??...
Thanks everybody!
-Jonesy, I use a fountain pen and a brush pen on my Moleskine. Moleskine sketchbooks are not my favorites actually, I don't really like the paper, but I wanted to try to fill a full sketchbook this time, I like the moleskine because it's very convenient to carry around, but not as great as other sketchbooks.
-Tack sa mycket Mia and Fredrik.
-Salut Opi. Bizarre, ce sont peut etre toutes les images de stockholm, je les ai pourtant bien allegees avant de les poster.
Comment vas tu?
Took some time to take it all in,,Djeez what a massive update ! I will be back with a proper comment once my poor little brains have prosessed all this Splendour...
Love the sketches.
nice work.
Excellent, excellent series!
The kungstrad garden and the Katrineholm are my favorite ones.
So, when are you going to your next trip?
- Than you very much Gerbie! come back back as much as you want even without comments, we can have a virtual drink.
-Thanks Caio.
- Thanks Gabriele! I think my next big trip is going to be Comicon in July, and maybe a short one to France before that, but there is a lot to sketch here in London and around anyway.
hey Steph I'm back...virtual pint then ?
Quite a nice collection of sketches, indeed. I like the way you develop a storyline through a series of relatively simple pictures.
I'll have to check out your entire blog in the days to come. I've just started an illustration blog and may need to rethink my approach.
...Freindly old Firl of a town?
Great drawings Stef.
Gorgeous drawings! I live in Stockholm and I recognized every spot you´ve drawn. Well, except maybe the forest ones, that could be anywhere...
Love your splendid drawing style, it looks so easy and simple. Nice coloring too.
Looks like you was very busy in Stockholm!:O)Great sketches Stef!:O)
OMG, Wow! These sketches are beautiful! I feel like I went with you! hahaa... I love how you did the sketch against the solid blockof color. Linking! ;)
We'll add our comments to make it 51!

Brillia Sef. Really. Blows my mind.
