Monday evening life drawing.

I started the last session using my brush pen, I wanted to do a lot of sketches as I usually do...

...then, they turned few strong lights on, that was a great opportunity to try some washes and play with the shadows.

Lovely studies, the series of full figures look great.
Looks like the model we drew at TATE Modern last time?

Unknown said...

Nope, but she was a great model to draw, you would have love it, especially with the strong light and shadow, funny because we talked about it last time, we said that it would be great to have more interesting light in the room...voila.

I like this kind of sketch. The technique is deceptively simple, but you get a real rich lighting and volume in the body with the ink wash. And your nice date stamp with vertical red figures adds a pseudo-oriental touch! I like to draw this way for imaginary characters: once I did a whole series of people, my "Whimbats".

Serious now Steph...why don't you get your best stuff, frame them and rent a small gallery space and exhibit some stuff next to the trendy bar with Crookie's artwork ?

Those washes are superb, Stef! All great, but I'm drawn to the fourth wash (the one where she is sitting on the box with the date strategically placed beneath). Magnifique.

I love the loose brush. have you ever seen ryan larkin's WALKING? he animated in that technique. and your sculpture is
incredible.

-Thanks Kiko and Chrissie.

-Thanks Hans. Your "chinese brush" post was great inspiration.
Unfortunately, I've never seen Ryan Larkin's walking, but I'll look for it.
Thanks for the comment about the sculpture too, my friend Rene is one talented Artist! I've just done the drawing and he brought life into it.
