Oil Painting Workshop... The Results.

Sean Cheetham is an excellent Artist, I've learnt a lot from him. I've never used oil paint before, but I truly enjoyed his class. Here is what I've done during his 5 days "Alla Prima" Oil Painting workshop at LAFAA... or more precisely, the 2 last paintings. Each one of them is approximatively 6 hours or work.

This is Day 5: (using a limited palette, know as the Zorn palette, Anders Zorn) White, Ivory Black, Yellow Ochre and either Vermilion or Cadmium Red Light or Med, in that case I used Scarlet Red.

And below, Day 4

Learning Curve.

This is Sean Cheetham, a very fine Artist, of whom I've been watching the back for 7 hours today, as I'm attending his 5 days oil painting class up in Van Nuys. Very interesting, even more for me as I never opened an oil paint tube before.
Tomorrow, I will open a tube, or more if all goes well, and will have my first attempt at "alla prima" painting (sounds very fancy), a portrait.
That's all, a good evening to all of you out there :)

Behind "Jimmy's Super Lunch"

The guy you see polishing the car asked me nicely if I had a problem, I was staring at the car you see, that's what you do when you draw something, you look at it, he didn't like that. He relaxed a bit after he saw the sketch, he didn't want to make me eat my sketchbook anymore. We are best buddies now. The end.

It's Not Me, It's The Dog.

I find drawing on location at night very difficult. The light, or the absence of light is very interesting, it makes everything looks so different, but it's also, well, very challenging to draw when you can't see anything.
Anyway, my dog and I stopped for few minutes this evening during our tour of the streets to sketch this.
She likes the sketch, so I share it with you.
A lovely evening to all of you :)
