Work in progress (update)

Rene sent me those pictures to show us where he is at in the process of making the mould for the figurine. On these 4 pictures he's preparing the mould for the resin figurine. Then he'll clean-up the details and do the final mould for the tin...incredible amount of work!

You can see here the previous stages:
- Rough sculpt
- Preparation of the first mould, with all the canals added to pour the tin.
- First mould
- My original illustration

Work in progress...

Few nice and interesting pictures before the weekend, René sent me this work in progress of the making of the mould for the Rodeo figurine. He'll do a resin sculpt from it and then the final one in Tin.. I'll post more pictures of the different stages as he goes along.

You can see here the previous stage again, rough sculpt, 2.75 inches tall!

Hus

I travel to Sweden quite a lot, beautiful country! Great place to paint, sketch... houses are so beautiful, so here's one Swedish house, the second one is a very nice door I saw somewhere in Norway and a tiny Icelandic poney.
You can see here ( 1 2 3) some of the watercolours I've done there too.

Rough sculpts

My friend in Paris, who's currently working on this beautiful figurine based on my characters, asked me if I could post some of the sculpts he's been working on lately, so here you are, this is some rough sculpts (wax). Those are going to be Bronze soon...The horses are going to be amazing! (although he still has to learn from my horse drawings, their anatomy is just not right, kidding of course). Any feedback, comments about his work will be much appreciated, thanks!

And a sketch of him I've done a while ago, he's the stereotype of a French man, the kind of guy you would see in a Jacques Tati movie!

Yeeehaaa!

Following on my children's book project "Rodeo" (only a working title), here are some sketches I did over the weekend.

As well, I finally received the rough sculpts of the 2 characters bouncing around! My sculptor friend in Paris used the illustration I did for the cover of the book as a model. I can't wait to see the final sculpt in tin! the packaging should be very nice too, a little wooden box. I will probably sell some via the blog for those interested. I'll let you know.

A picture to give you an idea of the size of the figurine compare to my friend's lighter. So small and so beautiful!

Life drawings

I've painted these ones with gouache, using a very large brush on big pieces of paper. The ones below were done in bookshops and parks.

Science Fiction

Here is the illustration I've done for our last Eurovision Art Challenge, the theme was "science fiction". The black and white version is the one I've submitted and I added the colour version as well here for you. There are no stickers on the dog's kennel in the colour version, although the subliminal sticker "Vote For Me" in the black and white one wasn't really a success as I didn't win! I'll find another subbtle trick next time!
